About the Journal

CJNR (Canadian Journal of Nursing Research) was an international peer-reviewed journal published quarterly by the Ingram School of Nursing at McGill University. Canada’s leading journal in nursing research and scholarship published original research and scholarly manuscripts that are of special interest to nursing clinicians, educators, leaders, policy makers, and researchers, as well as other health care providers. CJNR published qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method research on diverse topics of relevance to nursing and health care. CJNR was intended to serve both Canada and the international nursing community as a forum for the dissemination and communication of nursing knowledge and research. 

CJNR was founded in 1969 and it is Canada's oldest peer reviewed nursing research journal. 

The first issue of CJNR was published as Nursing Papers/Perspectives en nursing by Dr. Moyra Allen of the School of Nursing, McGill University, for the purpose of exchanging ideas related to nursing research and education. In 1985 it was renamed the Canadian Journal of Nursing Research/Revue canadienne de recherche en sciences infirimières. In 1992 the name of the journal was shortened to CJNR/RCRSI and in 2003 it was renamed CJNR. The digital archive is comprised of all of these names and this should be kept in mind when conducting a search for information. Presently the digital archive includes all issues from 1969 to 2015.

As of 2016, Sage Publishing took over the publication of the journal.
